How can I expand my image?
Step 1
Upload an image
Ensure you're equipped with the Photoroom App on your mobile device, then embark on your journey by opening the app and uploading your image. Currently, the feature is only available on iOS. Coming soon to all platforms!
Step 2
Resize and extend
Now click on the icon 'Resize'. Then choose the size that you want your image to adapt to, for example, 'Instagram Story'. Our AI will automatically fill in the missing part of the image.
Step 3
Continue editing
Enhance your image with endless possibilities! Add layers, text, stickers, or generate AI shadows—all within the app. Make your masterpiece truly yours!

How to use AI to expand images?
You upload your original image into the app and then choose the option Resize. You can decide between different formats or select your own dimensions. With one click, it extends the part of your image that you are missing. For example, if you took a horizontal image, but you need a vertical image, AI Expand will fill out the parts of the image that are missing. If it does not suit you, you can also try again.
What AI can expand an image?
Several advanced AI-based technologies and software can expand images, allowing users to outpaint their images. Examples of online tools that use generative AI to expand images are Getimg, DALL-E or Photoroom.
How much does an AI image enlarger cost?
The AI Expand feature of Photoroom is included in the Pro plan. Please refer to our pricing page for a detailed overview of what is included with Photoroom Pro and how much you can save with our annual plan.
What is outpainting?
Outpainting is an image processing technique where advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithms generate content beyond the original image borders, extending its visible area. The AI Image Expander of PhotoRoom uses the technology of outpainting and is the ideal solution to create new image content for anyone without any technical skills.
When will AI Expand become a feature on the Photoroom web app?
Currently, the outpainting feature is exclusively accessible via our mobile app and iOS. Once we've ensured a seamless user experience on this platform, we'll proceed to integrate it into our web platform as well. Thank you for your patience!
